LONDON, UK (London Times) - Geri Halliwell says she will put her pop career on the backburner this year in order to focus on films.

The former Ginger Spice announced her silver screen ambitions at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes where she won the Best International Song award for her cover of The Weather Girls' 1983 hit, "It's Raining Men."
"I'm concentrating on nothing but acting this year," said Geri following the awards ceremony. "It's amazing what Britney has done going into films. It's what I want to do."
