Mariana was also selected to play the 1st Annual Texas Independent Musicians (T.I.M.) Showcase at the Troubadour Saloon during the 2006 South by Southwest (SXSW) music and film festival and conference in Austin. Mariana will be following her SXSW gigs with her inaugural performance at Hollywood's Hotel Cafe (1623 1/2 N Cahuenga Blvd) on March 31, only to be invited to a private audition for hit CBS TV series ROCKSTAR the next day. The Australian-born, Charlottesville-raised Mariana Bell has been a fixture at such popular New York venues as Caffe Vivaldi, Laila Lounge, The Bitter End, CBGB's and The Living Room. While her debut record, Dream of Italy, has been a consistently strong online seller through CD Baby, her more recent work branches out from her folksier roots, weaving elements of rock, jazz and country together with her trademark hook-filled melodies and evocative, passionate vocals. While critics have likened her music to that of a young Joni Mitchell, Mariana counts among her own influences Shawn Colvin, Bruce Cockburn, Dave Matthews, and Ani DiFranco. https://www.marianabell.net https://www.myspace.com/marianabell https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/marianabell
