NEW YORK (NBC.com) - Enrique Iglesias's hit single "Hero" climbed to the top of the U.K. singles chart on Sunday (January 27). The track bumped George Harrison's " My Sweet Lord" from Number One after one week -- bumping it to Number Four. "Hero" marks Iglesias's highest charting U.K. single to date. Before "Hero" his highest charting single in the U.K. was the Top 10 hit, "Bailamos," which reached Number Four in September of 1999. Iglesias says that "Hero" is essentially a song about love and compassion, and that's why so many people from all around the world can connect with it. "Love is, I would say if you turn on the radio, 90 percent of the music," he said. "And thats why for me music and artists--no matter what your background is, not matter what religion, what nationality or what class you come from, no matter if you're rich or poor, no matter what, that's where we all join together and where we're all similar. Because at the end of the day it all comes down to the music, to what we write about and love is the main theme in music. And no matter how rich you are no matter how poor you are, no matter what you are--we all feel love." Iglesias will perform at NBC's pre-show of the NBA All-star game on February 9, and on CBS's Late Show With David Letterman on February 11.
