Los Angeles, CA (www.drewmaher.com) - Drew Maher, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Carrollton, TX, will release his brand new album "Selling 2-Dollar Bills for a Dollar" on May 27. The CD contains 12 tracks of pop with influences from people as diverse as Bjork, The Mars Volta, U2, The Beatles, The Gypsy
Kings and Mozart. "There's a fullness to "Selling 2-Dollar Bills for a Dollar" that one might not expect from a solo songwriter, but, as the album continually reminds us, faith and perseverance mixed with hope, experience, and a bit of clarity go a long way when forging a path of one's own, and Drew is well on his way,"
Aaron Leis of The Porch writes.
After spending the better part of a decade playing in various bands around the Denton/ Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Drew Maher is now pursuing his musical avenues as a solo artist. He has released 6 full-length albums and 5 EPs, thus being no stranger to the studio, or the stage for that matter. Over the years, Drew has played with a variety of musical set-ups; around 150 live performances in all. "I've always wanted to entertain people," Drew says. "But in addition to entertaining them, I wanted to give something different than what everyone else was doing. After seeing performers like Mike Patton and Chris Cornell live, I knew that was the pinnacle of art and everything worth living for."
Drew speaks and sings in Spanish, as well as in French, making him one of the most versatile artists in his area. "I enjoy incorporating other languages into my music to reach a broader range of people." Along with his Yamaha Motif ES 6 keyboard, Drew is a complete songwriting package. Starting with pre-recording the drums, bass, "bells and whistles", he also writes and performs live, all vocal and guitar parts for his unique blend of songs.
He's proud of his new baby, "I see my new music as some of the most melodic, original and thought provoking there is today. It's a blend of pop and avant-garde which is very easily digestible, but always keeps listeners on their toes. Many bands get into the rut of having every song sound the same. I offer a unique flavor and emotion in every song. Both my music and lyrics could be taken by themselves and looked upon as beautiful," he says.
Whether an average radio listener or an avant-garde critic, everyone will come away with something worthwhile.
