NEW YORK (Entertaiment Weekly) - In November it was reported that Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh, who had checked himself into a psychiatric hospital in the fall had resurfaced. Reports said he was recording with former Mighty Mighty Bosstones guitarist Nate Albert for a band called Brakes.

Now Entertainment Weekly is claiming that Welsh is now in fact still working with Albert, but on a band called The Kickovers. At this point Weezers former bassist is not talking about the Weezer situation for legal reasons. But he has confirmed that yes he did take some time off to get help, and that the rest of the band decided to go on without him.

Mikey Welsh joined Weezer just before the band recorded their third album, replacing bassist Matt Sharp. Welsh has said that he had been good friends with the guys in Weezer and that having them just kind of split was definitely cold.
