INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis home builder accused of double-billing rock star John Mellencamp has agreed to plead guilty to theft and pay more than $98,000 restitution, according to the Marion County Prosecutor's office. Timothy Eldredge, 53, is scheduled to appear in Marion Superior Court on Sept. 14 where he is expected to plead guilty to theft - a felony charge that carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to dismiss more serious charges, according to documents the prosecutor's office released Monday. Prosecutors say Eldredge falsified billing invoices in an effort to bilk John and Elaine Mellencamp after the couple hired The Eldredge Group of Indianapolis to build a $2.5 million home near Lake Monroe south of Bloomington.
