Radio (BTR), the Internet's voice of the World's Best Independent Music, announced today a contest giving aspiring filmmakers in the New York City area the chance to shoot their very own music video with up and coming LA artist The Gray Kid. Contestants are asked to submit a 1-minute short film based that includes The Gray Kid's song Lonely Love for their chance to direct. Not only will they have their 15 minutes of fame, but they will also win a SONY SZ Laptop and all the video editing software needed to go pro.
After a lifetime of absorbing musical influences from all over the dial, The Gray Kid self-styled underground pop has been winning fans of all genres and walks of life, from indie hipsters to hip hoppers, models to mods, jocks to journalists. He plunged head first into the thriving music scene of downtown NYC and four months later was hosting the PLUG Independent Music Awards. A few weeks after that he was headlining the 2005 XBOX Big Day Out Snowboard Competition in Val DIsere, France, where he joined two of Europes premier DJs and stole the show in front of 10,000 people who discovered what the rest of the world will soon find out - the boy can move a CROWD.
Having earned a devoted following in NYC from consistent gigging and the resulting word-of-mouth buzz, The Gray Kid treats his fans to a one-man show unlike any other. Equal parts Mick Jagger and L.L. Cool J, Noel Gallagher and Eminem, this mic wrecking, song writing, hip shaking, guitar playing, soul crooning, music making dynamo drops electrified, Jeep-beat anthems that'll shake speakers. Alongside the staff of BreakThru Radio, The Gray Kid will chose a winner on November 6, and will shoot the video for "Lonely Love" on November 14 in New York City. The video will premiere on BreakThru Radio's website, as well as featured on The Gray Kid's website, myspace, and World's Fair You Tube page. First runner up will win a Sony PSP2, and the second runner up will win a Sony DVD Collection. Contestants can submit their original one-minute short at www.breakthruradio.com.
