NEW YORK (Top 40 Charts) - The
Dave Matthews Band's long lost "Lillywhite Sessions" will be found on July 16. That's the date RCA Records has set to release the revamped album, now titled
Busted Stuff, according to a spokesperson for the band at Big Hassle Media.
Several retooled versions of songs originally recorded with producer Steve Lillywhite in 2000, as well as a few new tracks, will appear on Busted Stuff.
The "Lillywhite Sessions," as the album came to be known as it circulated the Internet for the last two years, was originally shelved in favor of the more commercial-friendly, Glen Ballard-produced album Everyday, released in 2001. But the album wouldn't die -- studio and live versions of its tracks quickly became the subject of much debate and downloading ever since.
For Busted Stuff, the band and longtime engineer Steve Harris manned the production, giving the new versions of old songs a more upbeat acoustic feel. The album's first single, "Where Are You Going," will hit radio May 21 and also appears on the soundtrack to Adam Sandler's latest flick, Mr. Deeds, which is due June 11 on RCA.
