New York, NY (BreakThru Radio) -- BreakThru
Radio (BTR), the Internet's voice of the World's Best Independent Music, welcomes Maia Macdonald to its young savvy staff as BTR's Program Director.
Fresh from WZLY at Wellesley College, Macdonald is intent on keeping the love for independent music alive, with its specialty shows and its unique on-demand programming.
Music has always been the most important thing in my life
Macdonald, previously served as a DJ and Program Director at WZLY at Wellesley College. She is currently in the process of building her own home recording studio in New Jersey and starting up her own indie label. After traveling through Haiti to study folkloric music, she has a continuing interest in music of all genres and locales. One thing is for sure -- Macdonald knows music.
"Music has always been the most important thing in my life," said Macdonald. "As a performer I have witnessed first hand how hard it can be for artists to be seen and heard. I am so excited to be part of the BTR team bringing independent music to new audiences."
"Music for music lovers," is BTR's motto, and one that Macdonald and all of the staff at BTR takes very seriously. In a world where independent music is becoming more and more accessible, the need for select sources to filter the best is a necessity. Macdonald is intent on finding the best independent music from all across the world to showcase to the already 4 million listeners. She sifts through the library with her finger on the pulse of new music while keeping in mind the quality that BTR has already been acquainted with.
"BreakThru Radio is catered to a smart crowd -- people who know what they want from radio, and are able to access that content on their own terms," she said.
Unlike other radio stations, BTR offers listeners with on-demand programming. A first in internet radio, listeners can cater to their musical preferences, while still finding the best independent and unsigned artists across the world.
