LOS ANGELES (Hives Fans Website) - The Hives, currently one of the most-talked-about rock bands in the music industry, bring to a close a U.S. tour Saturday (June 15) in Washington D.C. that was nothing short of an incredible success.
Touring in support of its latest album, Veni Vidi Vicious, the Swedish punk band sold out every show on the tour, including two in New York in less than an hour, while demand in several cities forced shows to be moved to bigger venues. During the three-week trek, the group saw its single, "Hate To Say I Told You So," work its way onto modern rock radio play lists and the album jump into the top 100 of the US Album sales chart.
The Hives performed nightly in front of a giant black-and-white American flag, with frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist often declaring, "This is the United States of the Hives!"
"The band had an amazing time, the Hives love America," a spokesperson said.
The Hives have played more than 400 shows in support of Veni Vidi Vicious over the last two years. After Saturday's show and in between various festival dates in the U.K., Europe, and Japan over the next two months, the group will take time off at home in Sweden while also turning its focus to its next album.
However, a return to the United States later this year is not out of the question. "They are considering coming back due to the overwhelming demand," its spokesperson continues. Meanwhile, the song "Main Offender" is being readied as the next single from Veni Vidi Vicious.
Veni Vidi Vicious was originally released in 2000 by Burning Heart/Epitaph Records. The album was reissued earlier this year on Warner Bros. Records' Sire imprint.
