HOLLYWOOD, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Virgin Records) - "From Yesterday," the third hit single from 30 SECONDS TO MARS' "A Beautiful Lie," claims the No 1 position on the
Modern Rock chart this week. Ascending to the top slot after 22 weeks, "
From Yesterday" is already demonstrating a longevity that recalls the band's previous smash hit, "The Kill." "
The Kill" spent a record-setting 52 weeks on the Billboard
Modern Rock airplay chart, peaking at No 3 and earning the distinction of being the longest-running hit in the chart's history.
"From Yesterday" is currently No 10* at Active Rock radio and the accompanying 14-minute epic short film/video is getting play on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, FUSE, Music Choice and IMF. Directed by Bartholomew Cubbins (who also directed the video for "The Kill"), "From Yesterday" was the first American music video shot entirely in the People's Republic of China and was recently voted the greatest epic video of all time on Yahoo! Music Australia.
After concluding their co-headlining stint on this year's "Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour," 30 SECONDS TO MARS will launch a UK headlining tour, to be followed by tours of Australia and Europe. The band will perform at the Australian MTV Video Music Awards in Sydney, Australia on April 29th. 30 SECONDS TO MARS' video for "The Kill" is nominated for three awards - "Video of the Year," "Best Rock Video" and "Viewer's Choice." (In the States, it has already won the band a series of awards and nominations from MTV, FUSE, mtvU and Billboard.) Demand for tickets has been high, prompting promoters to move the band's Sydney show to a larger venue and release additional seats for the Melbourne show. After its Australian tour, 30 SECONDS TO MARS will play a show in Tokyo, then head to Europe, where tour highlights include a series of dates with Linkin Park and numerous summer festivals.
"A Beautiful Lie," the band's second album, is certified Platinum in the U.S. and has proved to be an international hit as well. It's certified Gold in Canada and Australia and has also charted in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, Finland and Colombia. "A Beautiful Lie" was released in August of 2005
