Washington, DC. (Top40 Charts/ Tone13 Records) - The CD release party will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007 at BeBar at 1318 9th Street, NW Washington, DC 20001, and will feature DJ performances by contributing artists Johnson and Burns, Quartermaine, Deepsixteen and the All Good Funk Alliance.

The Underground Sound of DC—as this informal group is known—is made up of such well-known and accomplished artists as Thievery Corporation, Fort Knox Five, Johnson and Burns, Jette-Ives, J-Punch, Tom Blondet, Seroya, Arthur Loves Plastic, Kid Gusto, and more. The compilation of electronica dance music was produced and donated by these local artists in their effort to raise awareness and money on behalf of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

One in 20 adults in Washington, DC is HIV positive and DC's HIV prevalence rates are 12 times the national average. These staggering statistics make the Nation's Capital worse than many sub-Saharan African nations. The Whitman-Walker Clinic has been faithfully providing awareness, education, prevention, and a variety of treatments for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Washington, DC for over 20 years.

This project was conceived to serve two causes: 1) advance the little known, but highly creative sounds of DC's thriving electronica music scene, and: 2) raise awareness for HIV prevention and treatment, especially among 20-40 year olds, who are not only the largest demographic to go to nightclubs and listen to dance music, but are also at the highest risk of contracting the disease.
