LOS ANGELES (AP) - Robert Duvall has agreed to play Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in a prequel to the Civil War drama "Gettysburg." Duvall will join Jeff Daniels, C. Thomas Howell and Tom Berenger in "Gods and Generals," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The three actors are reprising their roles from "Gettysburg," which starred Martin Sheen as Lee. Writer-director Ron Maxwell adapted the screenplay for "Gods and Generals" from author Jeff Sharaa's book of the same name. Maxwell also wrote and produced 1993's "Gettysburg" based on the historical novel "The Killer Angels," written by Sharaa's father, Michael. Although "Gettysburg" debuted on television, "Gods and Generals" is planned for theatrical release. The prequel is scheduled to begin filming Aug. 28 in Lexington, Va.
