Meadows new single, '18 Video Tapes,' from this CD is currently climbing national music industry trade charts. It's been the No. 1 listener favorite for 10 nights in a row on WKDF in Nashville, TN during the station's 'Nashville's Top Nine At Nine' segment. Other stations across the United States are reporting the phone action caused by this single among their top five most requested or commented on. KUZZ in Bakersfield, CA is advising that it's the No. 1 song lighting up phones at that station. Robert Arthur and Aaron Barker, who wrote several of George Strait's hits, wrote the song. It's packed with emotion and features Vince Gill on harmony vocals.
The CD is receiving the thumbs-up from review critics across the country. Among them, Mario Tarradell of the Dallas Morning News who says Meadows music is 'genuine country' and 'harks back to a bygone era, when no-frills songs were delivered with honesty and simplicity.' His final thought: 'The hat's real, folks. So are the creased Wranglers. Mr. Meadows isn't going for hillbilly hipness in naming his debut CD 100% COWBOY. After one listen that title is just a fact.'
The new CD features numerous points of interest. The title cut is a powerhouse of a song with an unblinking look at what it is to be a modern-day cowboy. '18 Video Tapes' is a poignant tale of a father's love, recorded for a son he knows he will never see grow up. 'Big Shot' is as brightly polished as a brass buckle, with a story that conveys confidence born of talent rather than empty bravado. 'Just Pray' brings faith and need together in the face of some of life's biggest challenges. 'San Antone Alone' features vocals by the Jordanaires. The autobiographical 'Here I Come' uses Jason's own struggles to sketch out the parameters of his life, his approach and his goals, painting an indelible portrait of a one-of-a-kind performer who has an electric presence that lights up a room or a stage and who wears his cowboy credentials naturally and genuinely. Meadows penned eight of the 10 songs on the 100% COWBOY CD.
Reba McEntire is credited with helping Meadows make it to Nashville by encouraging him to make the move to Music City and offering him a place to live once he arrived. He later captivated the judges and audience of the hit USA Network 'Nashville Star' TV series with his singing and stage talent, his skilled songwriting gift, and his silver screen good looks. Meadows quickly earned a fan base so large that when he played a hometown concert at the Choctaw Coliseum, he drew a venue-record crowd of nearly 7,000.
