LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ K-EARTH 101.1 FM) - K-EARTH 101 is celebrating three and half decades of playing The Greatest Hits on Earth by throwing a year-long party for its listeners that will include a spectacular music festival in Orange County this fall. The K-EARTH 101 35th Anniversary Concert, presented by Mercedes Benz Dealers of Southern California, will take place at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater Saturday, September 15th. Artists helping K-EARTH 101 commemorate 35 years as the Soundtrack of Southern California include superstars Chicago, Doobie Brothers, War, The Stylistics and The Four Tops.

The announcement was made today by Maureen Lesourd, K-EARTH 101 VP and General Manager of the CBS Radio Los Angeles station.

"We want our listeners to know how much we love them and the music they love, and K-EARTH 101 is extremely pleased to announce such a great lineup of performing talent to help us mark this important anniversary," said Jhani Kaye, Program Director.

K-EARTH 101 was one of the first to begin playing a '60s and '70s adult hits programming format in October of 1972. It has remained one of the most popular radio stations in the entire nation for most of the past 35 years, attracting an average of about one and a half million listeners each week. Over the years, K-EARTH 101 has been the home of some of the top personalities in radio, including Robert W. Morgan, the Real Don Steele, Brian Beirne, Charlie Van Dyke, Charlie Tuna, Humble Harve, Dave Hull, Johnny Hayes, Bob Shannon, and Wolfman Jack.

"K-EARTH 101 has such an incredible history as a radio station, and has been part of the lives of Southern California for so long those entire families listen and enjoy the station together at the same time," said Lesourd. "We couldn't ask for a better representation of the music our listeners enjoy than Chicago, Doobie Brothers, War, The Stylistics and The Four Tops."

Chicago, the legendary rock 'n' roll band with horns, is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary. In the course of their remarkable career, the band has sold 100,000,000 records, netted 20 Top 10 hits, 5 Number One albums, 5 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles.

The Doobie Brothers' mix of rock energy and soulful harmonies has been a live favorite for over thirty years. Their many hits heard in Southern California on K-EARTH 101, including, "Long Train Runnin'" and "Takin' It To The Streets," have netted the group multiple Grammy Awards and several Platinum records.

Interlacing rock, R&B, soul and Latin sounds into their own irresistibly funky style, War's legacy resonates through today's jam band and Rock En Espanol scenes. "Low Rider," and "Why Can't We Be Friends," remains K-EARTH 101 staples.

The Stylistics helped to define the Philly Soul sound with the smooth sophistication of hits like, "You Make Me Feel Brand New," and "You Are Everything." The group enjoyed an amazing run of 12 straight Top Ten smashes.

Motown legends The Four Tops helped shape modern R&B thanks to indelible singles like, "Reach Out I'll Be There," and "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)."

The show will be hosted by K-EARTH 101 personalities Gary Bryan, Samantha Stander, Lisa Stanley, Bob Malik, Jim Carson, Joshua Escandon, "Shotgun Tom" Kelly, Christina Kelley, Dave Randall, Sylvia Aimerito and Bruce Chandler.

Listeners will have special opportunities to win tickets before they go on sale to the concert on-air at K-EARTH 101 FM.
