NEW YORK (Top 40 Charts) - If youre looking forward to hearing new material from Swedish rockers The Hives you may be waiting a while. It seems that The Hives who recently signed a multi-million dollar album deal with Universal Music UK are in the midst of a corporate struggle over who owns them and their next studio album. The bands original label, Burning Heart, which put out the bands first two albums, claim that they have control over the group because the deal they share with The Hives calls for one more album. Hives guitarist Nicholaus Arson recently told a Swedish newspaper: We see it as the end of the contract with them (Burning Heart) and thats why weve signed elsewhere (Universal). Burning Heart boss Peter Ahlqvist has said Our lawyers are currently looking into the matter. The possible lengthy legal arguments involving The Hives and who owns them threaten to prevent the band from being able to release any new music until the dispute is settled.
