TORONTO, CANADA (Top40 Charts/ Cineplex Entertainment) - Canadian opera fans get ready! Due to last year's overwhelming response to the first season of "Metropolitan Opera: Live in High-Definition" transmissions to movie theatres, opera fans will be able to enjoy more live performances at 70 select Cineplex Entertainment (CGX.UN) theatres throughout Canada during the 2007-2008 season. "Metropolitan Opera: Live in High-Definition" series expands this year from six to eight live opera transmissions, beginning on December 15, 2007, with Gounod's Rom?o et Juliette, starring Anna Netrebko. Cineplex Entertainment will begin selling advance tickets on Friday, November 9th to the hottest entertainment event this year: live opera productions in High Definition and Dolby
Digital Surround Sound.
"Due to the resounding success of the 2006-2007 season performances with many theatres having sold out well in advance of the presentations, we are pleased to have more than doubled the number of theatres from 34 to 70," said Pat Marshall, Vice-President, Communications and Investor Relations, Cineplex Entertainment. "New this year is the opportunity to purchase season tickets, available in packages of three, five or all eight performances, to secure your seats in advance to the hottest opera productions."
Tickets are available beginning Friday November 9(th) online at www.cineplex.com as well as at participating theatre box offices. Admission for children ages 3 - 12 and seniors is $16.95 + tax and general admission is $19.95 + tax.
To purchase season tickets for all eight performances, the price is $134.95 + tax and can be purchased only at the theatres below. Guests can also purchase tickets to any five operas for $89.95 + tax or any three operas for $56.95 + tax. A special group rate is also available for groups of fifty or more.
