Phoenix, AZ. (Top40 Charts/ Hergybear Records) - Carl Herrgesell has released his third and most important solo album to date.
Carl Herrgesell first became fascinated with playing piano at the age of 12 when his father bought the family a player piano. By age 13, Carl was privileged to be taking formal piano lessons from nationally known pianist/composer, and recording artist, Larry Clapp. While still in high school, Carl's father took his son to a Billy Joel concert where Carl's passion to play piano was ignited. By age 17, Carl was playing gigs in his hometown of Phoenix on a regular basis.
At the age of 26, like many aspiring musicians, Nashville would be the next move for Carl. It was in Nashville where Carl met another successful artist, producer Chris Rodriguez, known then for his work with Amy Grant. It would be Chris who eventually recommended Carl for a position in Kenny Loggin's band. Along with Kenny, Carl has been given many opportunities to work with an array of talented artists including Chris Rodriguez, Tommy Sims, Craig Young, Twila Paris, Kathy Troccoli, Dan Needham, Chris McHugh, David Meade, Elton John, LeAnn Rimes, Nicole C. Mullen, Todd Collins, DC Talk, Peter Collins, Israel, the Ragamuffins, Michael McDonald, the Temptations, and Aaron Smith.
Today, at the age of 37, Carl divides his time on the road playing piano/keyboard for Kenny Loggins, and award-winning Contemporary Christian recording artist, Kathy Troccoli.
In 2006, Carl is enjoyed producing his very first solo project, "Can I Change". A dream come true for Carl, this project not only showcases Carl's piano skills, but also his songwriting skills and singing voice. This project also gave Carl the honor of recording a song written by one of his all-time heroes, David Foster. "He's a keyboard/producer genius", says Carl, " 'The Prayer' is an amazing work and to have Kathy Troccoli agree to record the duet with me on my solo debut was a dream come true for my mother, as well as for me."
This week Carl is releasing his 3rd project. "At The Piano" is a collection of solo piano pieces. "This has been a long time coming", said Carl in a recent interview. "I've been playing piano with Kathy Troccoli for almost 12 years, so many of her fans have asked me for a solo piano CD, I had such a great time doing this. There is such a freedom knowing there won't be a vocal or drummer on a song. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this as much as I did making it."
