CHICAGO, IL. (Top40 Charts/ Lake Shore Symphony) - Russell Vinick, Music Director of the LSSO, announces the opening of the LSSO's 34th season. Performing at the beautiful auditorium of Northside College Preparatory High School at 5501 N. Kedzie in Chicago, the concert will be held on Sunday, October 28th, 2007 at 3:30pm. The opening concert features Mr. John Bruce Yeh, clarinetist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Yeh will be performing the "Weber Concertino" for Clarinet and the Debussy Premiere Rhapsody for Clarinet. Mr. Yeh joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1977, having been appointed solo bass clarinet of the Orchestra at the age of nineteen by Sir Georg Solti. Another highlight of the concert will be the beautiful "Enigma Variations" by Elgar and a special side by side performance of Crown Imperial by Walton with the McHenry County Youth Orchestra. Maestro Vinick shares his thoughts on this exciting performance: "How do you pay tribute to your friends? If you are Elgar, you write a piece of music about them. Elgar's 'Enigma Variations' musically captures interesting aspects of his friend's personalities while touching you through its moving melodies and energizing you with exciting rhythms and invigorating brass. The LSSO will honor you, our audience and friends, with a surprise gift in this program entitled 'Listener Friendly.' On this concert, you will also get to hear the clarinet in the uncommon role as soloist played by one of the great masters of this instrument, John Bruce Yeh. A Sunday with the LSSO is truly a sunny day and I look forward to sharing it with you." Ticket prices are $18.00 for adults, $12.00 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the door or on our website at www.lsso.org
