NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ KOCH Records) - MTV2 has announced KOCH Record's Seattle-based band The Myriad as one of six top contenders for the title of "MTV2 Dew Circuit Breakout." Myriad fans can vote as many times as they want throughout the competition from now until November 20 at https://dewcircuitbreakout.mtv2.com/artist/default.aspx?artist=200. The Top 6 Finalists get a visit from MTV crews in their hometown and are filmed in action for segments on air! The Top 3 Finalists that make the cut will be flown to New York City to perform during the Dew Circuit Breakout Finale, LIVE from Times Square, where the grand prize winner will be announced. The winning band will be thrown back on stage to star in their very first MTV music video for rotation on-air with exposure on MTV and MTV2, including being strongly considered for MTV's Artist of the Week. In addition, they'll grab some air time on Discover & Download and Unleashed, where the latest, most anticipated, most cutting-edge work from the biggest players in rock and hip-hop premiere on MTV2.
In the past 5 years the 'Dew Circuit Breakout' has been running, all 5 of the 'breakout band' winners have gone on to sell over 200,000 units, with a couple approaching platinum. Past winners include Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, Hellogoodbye, Halifax and Thursday.
To feed the band's fast growing fanbase, KOCH has rush-released a specially-priced EP "Prelude To Arrows," that includes five songs plus a special bonus track as a sneak preview of the upcoming album. "Prelude To Arrows" is available at venues, specialty retail and online at iTunes and other digital services.
In addition, Rhapsody.com is offering a free MP3 Download on their site for "A Clean Shot," an exclusive preview track from the forthcoming album, at www.rhapsody.com/indiehub beginning on Tuesday, November 6th, 2007.
Drawing rave reviews from fans and critics worldwide, The Myriad's music covers a diverse panorama, evoking comparisons to The Verve, Radiohead and The Who. In their quick emergence, the band has already performed with Blindside, Mute Math and The Beautiful Mistake. The Myriad's first full length record, "You Can't Trust a Ladder," was featured as a Staff Favorite on iTunes (alongside the White Stripes and the Foo Fighters) and MTV has used some songs off the record for the "Real World Denver" show.
Backed by a new label and armed with a hotly-anticipated new record, 2008 promises to be a landmark year for The Myriad. The Myriad's forthcoming album, "With Arrows, With Poise" was recently mixed at Hansa Studios in Berlin, Germany by Michael Ilbert (The Cardigans, Kent, The Hives) and mastered at historic Abbey Road Studios in London, England by Adam Nunn (Air, Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, George Martin, Mogwai).
Currently on a sold-out national tour with The David Crowder Band, The Myriad is made up of Jeremy Edwardson, John Roger Schofield, Steven Tracy, Jonathan Young and Randy Miller. In addition to their recent MTV success, the band has released a special limited edition EP, "Prelude To Arrows," on October 9, 2007. The six-song EP will bridge the gap between the bands 2005's critically acclaimed "You Can't Trust a Ladder" and next year's highly-anticipated "With Arrows, With Poise."
