NEW YORK (Pop & Rock Magazine) - Phish's founding members, singer-guitarist Trey Anastasio and bassist Mike Gordon, jammed together on Monday (Sept. 23) night in Shokan, N.Y., outside of Woodstock.

The hook-up took place at a party for Gordon's documentary, Rising Low, at Allaire Studios during the Woodstock Film Festival. The film, directed by Gordon, portrays the tribute by 25 bass players to the late Gov't Mule bassist Allen Woody, who died last year.

An impromptu jam session ensued with Anastasio and Gordon joined by a slew of musicians, including Gov't Mule's Matt Abts, Widespread Panic/Gov't Mule's Dave Schools, Deep Banana Blackout's Fuzz, Addison Groove Project's Rob Marscher, DJ Logic, Tim Moore, and later, film score composer David Robbins.

Even later, Gordon played banjo with folk musicians Jay Ungar and Molly Mason in the wee morning hours.

Phish has been on hiatus since October 2000, but Gordon and Anastasio jammed together once more this year at Anastasio's solo show at the Tweeter Center in Boston in June. Phish has its official "reunion" shows set for New Year's Eve at Madison Square Garden in New York, followed by three shows in Hampton, Va., Jan. 2-4.
