TORRANCE, Calif. (Toyota Press) - Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A today announced a unique marketing tie to superstar singer/songwriter/musician Phil Collins.
The relationship got under way with the recent release of Collins's new single, entitled "Can't Stop Loving You," released by Atlantic Records.
Toyota and Atlantic Records have joined forces in support of two unique songs developed by the multi-platinum artist, which will be featured in a major marketing push for Toyota. The first, "Can't Stop Loving You," made its debut in a television commercial for Toyota's sophisticated 2003 Avalon sedan. The hit song will also be included on Collins's upcoming new Atlantic album, Testify, which will be released on November 12th.
Collins's music blends with Toyota's overall brand campaign, "Get the Feeling." As part of the promotion, the new CD and related in-store point-of-purchase materials are tagged "As Featured in the New Toyota Avalon Commercial."
Through the agreement, Toyota will license one more Collins song for a second upcoming Toyota commercial. In addition, Toyota and Atlantic plan to expand promotions around Testify in the fall through in-store promotions with music retailers. Cross promotions will be developed online and in major markets.
"We believe in the power of music and its ability to evoke strong feelings," said Steve Sturm, Toyota Motor Sales' vice president of marketing. "Phil Collins's talent and music continue to captivate and enthrall listeners. We want our vehicles to have the same effect on people, so working with Collins on this campaign was a natural."
Collins struck a chord with Toyota when he performed live at a private concert for 5,000 Toyota dealers and guests last month. Toyota will support Collins in New York on November 13th, when he will be honored with the Spirit of Life award by the City of Hope, a renowned biomedical research, treatment, and educational institution dedicated to the prevention and cure of life-threatening diseases.
Since releasing his first solo recording just over 20 years ago, Phil Collins has sold 100 million albums around the world (not counting his work with the group Genesis).
He has earned numerous accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe.
The forthcoming release of Testify marks Collins's first all-new solo album in six years.
Inspired by his new marriage in 1999 and his new fatherhood in 2001, it is a captivating, wide-ranging collection of powerful, moving songs - all defined by Collins's signature voice and unmistakable musical imprint.
In addition to "Can't Stop Loving You," Testify is highlighted by such tracks as "Don't Get Me Started," "Testify," "Driving Me Crazy," and "The Least You Can Do." .
