 LEEDS, UK (Hard Rock Cafe Official Website) - Since Hard Rock Cafe first opened the doors of its original London cafe in 1971, the Company has grown to include more than 100 signature cafes in 40 countries. Hard Rock Cafe International today announced the signing of a long-term lease for a new cafe in Leeds, slated to open in December 2002. The Leeds cafe will join other U.K. locations in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Nottingham and Birmingham. The 100-seat cafe and bar will be located on Albion Street in the 'Cube,' a hip, new complex of shops and restaurants. Hard Rock Cafe named 10-year restaurant veteran Andrew Sugden as General Manager of the new Hard Rock Cafe Leeds. Sudgen has been with Hard Rock Cafe for six months since returning from a year of traveling throughout Southeast Asia and Australia. The Wakefield native holds a hospitality management degree from Leeds Metropolitan University and will return to his hometown to manage Hard Rock Cafe Leeds. "As our birthplace, the U.K. has always been our favorite place to offer guests the finest dining and music experience possible," said Pete Beaudrault, president and CEO of Hard Rock Cafe International. "Our location in the 'Cube' is particularly exciting, as we will be part of what will soon become a vibrant shopping and leisure destination in Leeds. The Cafe will feature Hard Rock's renowned memorabilia collection, outstanding menu and collectible merchandise, and will feature live music. In addition to artifacts from the world's top musical artists, fans will view memorabilia from legendary British artists, as well as pieces from the area's top local artists.
