NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Yep Roc Records) - On 'Bulletproof', their first album with the Yep Roc label, roots/rock rogues Reckless Kelly explore fragility in relationships and the state of our country. The band's fifth studio album shows their signature duality of barroom ballads and rocking fight songs at its pinnacle.

'Bulletproof' features a superb songwriting collaboration between frontman Willy Braun and country icon Robert Earl Keen on "God Forsaken Town," a song about a person holding out from evacuating during Hurricane Katrina.

The grit and gristle of Braun's voice brings the vulnerability of love songs like "A Guy Like Me" and "Bulletproof" to life without the threat of ever being saccharin.

One of the most poignant tracks on 'Bulletproof' is "American Blood" a song criticizing the war in Iraq because of the loss of American troops. Braun sings of their painfully true stories (now Johnny can drink all day / 'cause he's twenty-three / he donated his legs / to the worldwide land of the free / he cries God bless America but God damn Uncle Sam / while he stares through the tears / with American blood on his hands) and the band shows their support of the troops on this page of their website.

While brothers Willy Braun (guitars, vocals) and Cody Braun (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), David Abeyta (electric guitar, vocals), Jimmy McFeeley (bass), and Jay Nazz (drums) haven't released a studio album since 2005's critically acclaimed 'Wicked Twisted Road', they remain road warriors and as much of a Texas staple as buckles, boots, and Budweiser. The band recently offered a preview of the new album on the popular, nationally syndicated Big Show with John Boy & Billy, the same show credited with helping to launch Robert Earl Keen's career.
