Records Publicity) - Atlanta's heavy-rock heroes MASTODON have chosen famed producer Brendan O'Brien to record the follow-up to their 2006 critically acclaimed, Grammy nominated Reprise Records debut, "BLOOD MOUNTAIN." One of the most respected American record producers of all-time, O'Brien has worked with a diverse list of artists that includes
Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, and AC/DC, among many others. Sessions will begin immediately.
As previously announced, the mighty MASTODON will join this summer's most-anticipated concert event, the first-ever ROCKSTAR ENERGY MAYHEM FESTIVAL. The tour will kick off July 9th at the White River Amphitheatre in Seattle and will hit 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada between early July and late August.
MASTODON will appear on the main stage along with DRAGONFORCE and headliners SLIPKNOT and label-mates DISTURBED. In addition, the tour will feature two second stages: one sponsored by JAGERMEISTER and featuring SEVENDUST, AIRBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, 36 CRAZY FISTS, and the JAGERMEISTER Battle of The Bands Winner. In other recent news, Rolling Stone has proclaimed MASTODON "Best Metal Band" in its special "Best of Rock" issue. The magazine calls the band: "Masters of virtuosic, twisted riff attacks."
