LONDON, UK (Erasure Fans Website) - Erasure - one of the most successful synth/dance groups to survive the ‘80s - are back for their first tour in the U.K. in more than five years. The short outing launches February 9 - right around the same time the band releases a new album, Other People's Songs. The record - Erasure's first since 2000's Loveboat - is a covers collection and features the duo's unique take on some of their favorite songs. The album sports covers of material by Peter Gabriel, the Righteous Brothers, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and others. As for the tour, expect a full-on Erasure extravaganza. A statement said the outing would incorporate an Edwardian dress theme to "honor the era when the gramophone was invented." Costume changes will take the group through the ages up to present day. It's been a good five years since Erasure have toured, period. They were last in the States back in ‘97 when supporting their Cowboy album. Although they've been largely absent from the public eye, the band has hardly been forgotten. They remain a staple on radio, thanks to continued resurgence in ‘80s music, and are constantly putting out new material. The timing couldn't be any better for Erasure to hit the road. Contemporaries like Soft Cell and Depeche Mode - which was formed by Erasure member Vince Clarke - have been touring recently, marking a first in many years for the New Wave crew.
