ALBERTA, Canada (Edmonton Sun) - According to the Edmonton Sun, Alberta Education Minister Lyle Oberg suggested yesterday that Chad Kroeger would make every bit as good a senator as Tommy Banks, a jazz musician appointed by Jean Chretien to represent Alberta. "He's sold a lot more records than Tommy Banks and he's got a lot more popularity around the world,'' Oberg said of Kroeger. The Minister was of course trying to make a point that musicianship alone does not make a good politician, but he may be on to something. Chad has a little more than his songwriting to back him up politically. He is the grandson of the late Henry Kroeger, a Tory member of the legislature in 1975.
