Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Phantom Vox Studios) - Jay Nash knew what he was meant to do from a young age. This much is apparent in his music, an earnest blend of the classic and modern, boasting lifelong influences like Springsteen, Dylan and Cat Stevens, all of whom he has drawn comparisons to. He will release his most mature and inspired album to date The Things You Think You Needon October 7th. An honest and engaging songwriter with a voice to match, Jay Nash has received praise from fans and critics alike, but his music speaks for itself. A genuine songwriter, a vibrant performer, Nash's vitality seems to erupt through the very thing he has long since pledged his life to. The Things You Think You Need filters this soulful energy through the eyes of someone who has experienced the ebb and flow of life- the heartache, the happiness and all that lies between.

The Things You Think You Need was produced by Chris Seefried and recorded at Phantom Vox Studios in Hollywood, CA during October and November of 2007. It includes guest appearances by some of Nash's close musical friends, including Epic recording artist Sara Bareilles (on "Barcelona," the album's most beautiful and intense track) and David Immergluck and Charlie Gillingham from the Counting Crows. All of Jay's influences are apparent on the album, from the mellow James Taylor/Dylan and the Band vibe of "Sweet Talkin' Liar," an addicting country-inspired tune you'll want to pop in on a road trip or your favorite bar; the Cat Stevens-inspired narrative of "Wayfarer," an acoustic track laced with piano, longing and insight; to the country-rock anthem "Easy," an accessible and catchy song you feel like you already know.

Jay Nash was always moved by the power of music and forever transformed when he discovered his own personal gift in a high school talent show. From there, he began performing in various bands. In 2001, Nash moved to LA where he established a residency at Bar F2, which would later become Room 5. Nash not only performed there, but began to book as well, including soon-to-be major label artists such as Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, OneRepublic and Tyrone Wells. His experiences and relationships at Room 5 played a significant role in his career, as the stimulation of his musical peers launched him into an entirely new level of creativity and inspiration. Nash would soon embark on 200 city tours and developed independent releases including 'Open Late ('2002), the full-length effort he started three days before 9/11 and ended up selling 2,000 copies through gigs and CD Baby; 'Nine', a 2004 compilation of demos; the autobiographical A Stream 'Up North', one of two companion albums he recorded in Thousand Islands with Joe Purdy; 'The North LaBrea All-Star Conquistadors,' a CD inspired by the celebrated weekly Monday night shows at Room 5 that also included fellow singer-songwriters Garrison Starr and Gabriel Mann; 'Some Kind of Comfort,' the critically acclaimed 2005 release ; and the most recently the Over You EP. When the shows at Room 5 started attracting media interest and more crowds, Nash moved over to the larger Hotel Cafe, which spawned its own musical community.
