"Metallica is the biggest hard rock band in the world...period. We are honored to have them play at Premios this year," commented Jose Tillan, Senior Vice President of Content and Music for MTV/Vh1 Latin America. "If you have never seen Metallica play, you are in for a heart stopping experience. My ears are still ringing from the last time I saw them live a couple of years ago!!!!! Moderatto will bring some irreverent fun to the show and we are excited to have Calle 13 debut their new single live on stage."

MTV Latin America has tapped Metallica, one of the biggest bands in the world to headline this year's award show. This will be Metallica's first award show appearance and the first time they have played a multi-national television show in support of their new worldwide number one album Death Magnetic, the band's tenth studio album and the first since St. Anger in 2003. The album debuted No 1 on the charts in over 32 countries around the world 3 weeks ago. The San Francisco Bay Area band formed in 1981 and since then has gone from being an underground heavy metal band to one of the most successful acts in the world, with an intensely loyal fan base. To date, Metallica has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and has won numerous awards, including seven Grammy awards and multiple MTV Video Music awards.

Mexican rock band Moderatto, returns to Los Premios MTV after completing their latest album titled "Queremos Rock," set to go on sale in October. The first single from this album titled "Mil Demonios," forms part of a diverse mix of songs assembled by Mike Chiplin, who has worked with important and renowned bands, including Aerosmith and AC/DC. Moderratto is nominated in "Best Rock Artist" category in this year's Los Premios MTV.

In their new album, "Los de Atras Vienen Conmigo," Calle 13 is accompanied by big Latin music figures, including Ruben Blades and Cafe Tacvba. In this production, rhythms from diverse corners of the world appear within Calle 13's urban universe, including music from southeast Europe and the Candombe from the south Latin region, which hold samba-like influences. The Puerto Rican duo, in their short trajectory, have garnered five Latin Grammy's and one Los Premios MTV award for "Promise Artist" in 2006.

Colombian artist Don Tetto has joined the line-up of previously announced talent that will perform live from the red carpet pre-show, "La Alfombra de Los Premios MTV 2008." Don Tetto, formed in 2003, represents a new generation of Latin rock with an innovative and contagious style that identifies with today's young people. The band is nominated in two Los Premios MTV 2008 categories including "Best Artist Central" and "Breakthrough Artist." Previously announced performers for "La Alfombra de Los Premios MTV 2008" include British band The Kooks and Argentine Emmanuel Horvilleur. "La Alfombra de Los Premios MTV 2008" will air one hour before the awards ceremony at 9.00 p.m. (Mexico and Colombia) and 10:00 p.m. (Argentina).

Metallica, Moderatto, Calle 13 and Don Tetto join the list of previously announced performers: Cafe Tacvba, Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich + Fusible, Kudai, Zoe, Ximena Sarinana, Katy Perry, Paramore, Tokio Hotel, Belanova and Julieta Venegas.
