PITTSBURGH, PA. (Top40 Charts/ Autism Center of Pittsburgh) - When Maddie Georgi submitted her video to Country Music Television's "Music City Madness" contest she hoped to make it through the first round.
Last night she was voted into the final 8 of the contest which has songwriters from across the country vying for the grand prize, which includes an all-expenses paid trip to Nashville to record an episode of the CMT online series Unplugged at Studio 330, a private audition with Warner Bros. Records and a mentoring session with country superstar Randy Travis.

"It's really amazing," says the 16-year-old high school student, "I never expected to be this far along." Georgi isn't new to the Pittsburgh music scene. She has played a diverse selection of venues including the Hard Rock Cafe and sang the National Anthem at several Pittsburgh Pirates home games. She's also the host of the McDonald's Steeler's KidZone Show.

Georgi began her singing and acting career at the ripe age of seven when she enrolled in an Act One Theatre School program. "I loved performing so much, it just seemed to be something that was a part of me." From there, Georgi's career took off, including winning the coveted Kean Idol contest last year.

She released her first single "Take My Hand," which she wrote for her autistic brother, Jake, and donated all of the proceeds to the Autism Center of Pittsburgh. "Autism is something that is very important to me," said Georgi, "for the sake of my brother and the 1 in 150 children suffering from the disorder. I'm happy to use my voice to bring awareness to this important issue."

Round 4 of the CMT contest begins today at 1 p.m. To vote for Maddie, go to https://www.cmt.com/interact/music_city_madness/

She will also be playing the "Chicks with Picks" benefit concert at the d'Vine Wine Bar in Wexford, PA in the Pine Tree Shoppes, along with Brooke Annibale and Robyn Cheeseman to benefit the Autism Center of Pittsburgh. Tickets are available by calling (724) 933-5533 or by logging on to Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com
