LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Luck Media & Marketing) -Considering all the great fortune and opportunities heading their way, Josh And The Empty Pockets may have to start thinking about a name change-because their pockets (and their tour schedule) are getting fuller all the time!
In February, the quirky and compelling, high-energy Chicago-based four-piece pop/rock powerhouse (www.sonicbids.com/emptypockets, www.myspace.com/joshandtheemptypockets) inked an exciting production and distribution deal with the new Chicago-based label 8th Impression Music (www.8thimpression.com) and its parent company, Universal Music Group.
Under the Bed, the band's first album of original songs, will be distributed by Fontana, a part of UMG.
'We're very excited about UMG pressing our album and getting it into stores,' says Josh.
Ramsey Dean, Head of 8th Impression Music, says, 'Josh is a great talent, able to mix great pop hooks with meaningful and insightful lyrics. His pockets won't be empty for long with the release of Under the Bed!'
With the world's largest music company, Universal Music, as a partner, 8th Impression's catalog is now available in all digital arenas from iTunes to Yahoo to WalMart.com, as well as every mobile provider such as Verizon and AT&T.
Dean will be on hand the afternoon of March 20, when Josh And The Empty Pockets make their highly anticipated appearance at the SXSW Music Stimulus Party at The Parish, located in the midst of Austin's hip and very happening 6th Street.
'Fall Right Now,' the spirited first single from Under the Bed, recently shot up to No 11 on the FMQB AC40 chart and was in the Top 40 for seven weeks. In mid-February, a new radio campaign for the song begins aimed at the Top 100 Hot AC markets nationwide.
The Empty Pockets' 2008 double-sided holiday single 'Baby, It's Cold Outside/Baby, Please Come Home' met with similar success, reaching No 77 on the Mediabase chart and securing spins on Clear Channel stations everywhere from Syracuse to Milwaukee. TV is also full of plenty of Empty Pockets, as, incredibly, all ten of the tracks from Under the Bed were placed on Nickelodeon's highest rated programs, 'iCarly,' 'Zoey 101' and, appropriately enough, 'Drake & Josh.'
