New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Warren G Official Website) - West coast rapper Warren G is close to finishing his much-anticipated sixth studio outing, The G Files.
The album is still a work in progress however, two new street singles are now in circulation. The classic G-Funk anthem, 'Mr. DJ,' is already receiving good reviews online, and the brand new, infectious 'Gigolo's Get Lonely 2,' both expected to be given airplay in the near future.
The G Files, Warren's first album in four years, will feature appearances from Nate Dogg, Bishop Lamont, Ice Cube, Paul Wall, and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The first official single is due to be released soon, called 'Swagga Rich' featuring Snoop Dogg.
The Long Beach bred, Grammy Award-nominated, music producer/rapper grew up listening to jazz, soul and funk records, and hanging out at the local V.I.P. record store in Long Beach. He soon pioneered a sound that would take rap to a new plateau. In 1994 G-Funk became a worldwide phenomenon, as the most musical and enduring strain of gangsta rap.
Warren G exploded onto the scene in 1994 with the single 'Regulate,' a duet with long-time friend Nate Dogg. It's accompanying album, Regulate...G Funk Era went triple platinum and peaked at No 2 on the Billboard charts. A slew of hit records, and global sell-out tours would follow, and in 2004 saw the reunion of childhood friends, and superstar trio, 213 (Snoop Dogg, Warren G & Nate Dogg), with their album The Hard Way, achieving platinum status.
The G Files is due in stores this fall.
