The first Record Store Day was held in 2008. Today, more than 700 record stores in the United States participate in the event, along with hundreds more from around the globe, bringing together independently-owned record stores with customers and performers to celebrate the culture of the record store. Record Store Day is celebrated every third Saturday in April and features in-store performances and events along with CD and vinyl releases made exclusively for participating indie stores.

"We are pleased to be partnering with TouchTunes to promote Record Store Day," said Kevin Twitchell, Senior Vice President, Channel Marketing, Sony Music Entertainment. "With this special playlist accessible via TouchTunes' vast network of digital jukeboxes and BarflyTV screens, we look forward to making fans aware of all the exciting music from Sony Music artists available through participating independent record stores."

"Record Store Day is thrilled to have this opportunity to partner with TouchTunes," said Michael Kurtz, President of the Music Monitor Network and a founding organizer of Record Store Day. "Promoting "Record Store Day" on TouchTunes will help us reach a new audience of hard core music fans and engage them beyond our usual marketing channels."

Vicki Saunders, TouchTunes Vice President, Digital Media and Music Marketing, added, "TouchTunes has been celebrating artists and the art of music for over 10 years. Our collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment and Record Store Day reinforces our commitment to making the best selection of music available to our locations and users. We salute all of the record stores out there on Record Store Day."
