LONDON, UK (60s Website) - Merseybeat star Gerry Marsden is recovering well after undergoing triple heart-bypass surgery in Liverpool on Monday. "He is progressing well," a spokesman for the cardiothoracic centre at Liverpool's Broad Green hospital said.
"Mr Marsden has been transferred from the intensive care unit onto a ward," she said.
His wife Pauline and daughters Yvette and Vicky remain at his side. The 60-year-old had been admitted on Sunday.

The Gerry and the Pacemakers singer, who still tours with other stars of the era, has been ordered to take three months off to recover.
Marsden found out he needed the operation after a routine check-up.
