Track listing: 1. Normal, 2. Normal (Lee Mortimer Remix), 3. Normal (Quixxx Remix), 4. Normal (SKisM's Remix), 5. Normal (Stu Ramsay Remix), 6. Normal (Orbatak Remix) With the release of Envy's debut album in March of this year, the Mancunian 22 year old rapper - already big on the grime & UK hip-hop scene - cemented her status as a future star. Envy aka Nicola Varley's 'Set Yourself On Fire' received critical acclaim from her contemporaries & across the wider music press.
With comparisons to Dizzee Rascal 'Boy In Da Corner' era, Missy Elliot and Wu Tang Clan, Envy returns in July with her new single 'Normal', to be released on StopStart Records on July 5th. With her distinctive vernacular, Envy waxes lyrical over the crisp, heavy beats of Medasyn (aka Gabriel Olegavich, the production & writing talent behind Spektrum and Lady Sovereign). Envy's lethal rhymes are laid over dark, grimy beats on SKisM's remix, given a dubby turn by Canadian duo Orbatak and Lee Mortimer manages to make her vocals even more intense over his fidget house offering.
'Normal' showcases Envy's lightning fast flow & you can understand how she toppled the rest of the competition in the Manchester battle scene at just 16. She has won several acclaimed freestyle competitions, 'Battlescars' in March 2006 and The Jump Off in September 2008 and was invited to open the MOBOs in 2006 as a result of her multitude of battle titles.

Envy, being a female MC, is still one of the exceptions to the rule, but she makes her aspirations very clear, writing her dissertation on 'The Misogyny of Hip Hop', her intelligent and articulate delivery are fast making gender irrelevant. With her charismatic hip-hop/grime flavour, one of Manchester's most prodigious talents is set to breakthrough from the northern scene and set the pace for her London counterparts. With support slots for G Unit, Immortal Technique and Kano under her belt, Envy has a string of festival appearances lined up for summer:
