Only a few dates into the tour and the group received an unexpected surprise at the end of their performance at London, Ontario's TD Sunfest 2010 as they were presented with the $5,000 Galaxie
Music Rising Star Prize.
The party that is a Five Alarm Funk performance has crowds dancing at every show with their genre-spanning, groove-straddling music. The Rising Star jury voted for them unanimously from the selected Canadian acts playing the festival. TD Sunfest is a unique, high profile event featuring over 30 top professional world music & dance and jazz ensembles based in Canada and abroad.
For more than six years Five Alarm Funk has brought their relentless and unforgettable live show to clubs and major festivals across Canada and into the United States. From over 250 shows Five Alarm Funk has performed highlights include: Vancouver Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Fest, Shambhala, Sunfest in London, Ontario, Ness Creek Festival in Saskatchewan, Summer Meltdown in Darrington, Washington and numerous sold-out shows at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.
