Walk Away Renee - The Left Banke To Reunite
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Tom F) The Left Banke, popular for the hit song "Walk Away Renee, has reformed and will play its first 2 shows in many years at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street at Cooper Square, New York City on March 5th and 6th, 2011. Founding member Tom Finn and drummer George Cameron, both vocalists, have reassembled the group with additional New York musicians to recreate the highly orchestrated pop sound of the groups original '60s records. "We were never really able to recreate our recorded sound on stage in the '60s said Finn, "but for these shows we will have string sounds, a violinist and cellist. And we will be performing songs from our albums that we never attempted live back then.

Formed in 1965, The Left Banke stormed onto the charts in the summer of 1966 with a new sound that came to be called "Baroque Pop." Their first album, "Walk Away Renee/Pretty Ballerina," set the standard for the fusion of classical music and pop music styles. Their second LP, "Left Banke Too", recorded after the departure of pianist/songwriter Michael Brown in 1968, went even deeper, and showed that the remaining band members were still a force to be reckoned with. Finn and Cameron have not performed together since the early 1970s.

The shows will feature over twenty songs including selections from all 3 studio albums, singles and more. In addition to Finn and Cameron, the band will also include longtime Left Banke associate Charlie Cazalet (bassist on the Strangers On A Train album), lead vocalist Mike Fornatale, guitarist Paul Alves, keyboardist Mike Finn, and drummer Rick Reil, also a member of New Jersey neo psychedelic rock band The Grip Weeds.
