Worth 4,000, the Award aims to document good examples of creative musical education in the class-room and in various music-making programmes. By documenting their projects and lessons, schools will have the opportunity to shape and implement them in such a way that they are not only sustainable but can also be used by the schools for public-relations purposes. The awards will be given in six different categories plus special awards. The Award ceremony takes place: 8 April, SOMM, Hall 3.1, Stand A 05, 14pm.

The eight finalists - Last Exit, Short Run, joormade, Beta 2.0, At Eaze, Kyonic, Rising Anger and Zero Gravitation - will appear on the Agora Stage at Musikmesse and perform not only to win over the audience but also the jury. For there is much at stake - the winning band will have the chance to appear not only at this year's HURRICANE but also at the SOUTHSIDE FESTIVAL. Moreover, they will also have the chance to travel to the USA and perform at the American SchoolJam Finals.

DJ Tools Award
Following the success of last year's premiere, Musikmesse Frankfurt and Elevator Future of Music are now holding the 2nd DJ Tools Award. From club mixers and DJ headphones to DJ software and the matching controllers, there are a total of 12 categories to be voted on at the DJ Tools Award 2011. After the voting, participants are invited to register for a competition for some of the most popular DJ tools.

Incidentally, some important changes have been made for this year's Tools Award - the concept has been greatly simplified and trans-formed into a users' award. This means that the product with the most online votes per category wins.
The DJ Tools Award ceremony will be held in Hall 5.1, stand B32, at the Musikmesse form 11.00 to 17.00 hrs on Saturday, 9 April.

Music Award
To be awarded at the Musikmesse for the first time this year, the 'www.drums.de Music Award' is the result of a collaboration between Musikmesse Frankfurt, www.drums.de and several companies from the fields of music, video, media and promotion. 50 percent of the nominations will be made by a jury of experts and 50 percent by Mu-sikmesse visitors who will have the chance to judge each video shown at www.drums.de via a special voting procedure. The star guests on stage will be 'Silbermond'. The band members will also take part in an autograph session afterwards.

German Pianist Award
The International Piano Forum will present the first German Pianist Award during a concert given by the winner at the 'Alte Oper' in Frankfurt am Main on 8 April 2011. The 'German Pianist Award' is an initiative of the International Piano Forum and is being given in co-operation with the German Academies and Conservatoires. The candidates nominated for the award are young pianists with the ar-tistic and, in particular, overall potential for a concert career. A jury of renowned experts will select the nominees and, finally, the winner of the German Pianist Award in an independent procedure supervised by a notary.

Best Edition Music Award
The German Music Publishers' Association (DMV) has been hon-ouring the editorial achievements of German music publishers with the 'Best Edition' Music Award since 1991. The graphic quality of sheet music has gained ever more in significance since the introduc-tion of sheet music, when music ceased to be passed on orally and assumed cultural and historical significance, and since the invention of mechanical reproduction by the printing press, which was associ-ated with the standardisation of the type face in accordance with physiological considerations, when music became the property of everyman. The presentation will be held on the Acoustic Stage from 10.00 to 12.00 hrs on Thursday, 7 April.

PPV Medien Reader Award
Every year, thousands of readers of SOUNDCHECK, KEYS, TASTENWELT, DRUMHEADS and GUITAR magazines take part in the voting for the best musical instruments and equipment, the win-ners of which are honoured with the PPVMEDIEN Reader Award. What makes this award so special is that the Reader Awards are given by the users themselves, which makes it a unique distinction for the winning products. The PPVMEDIEN Reader Awards 2011 will be presented at the Musikmesse/Prolight+Sound in 'Saal Illusion' of Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt at 16.30 hrs on Wednesday, 6 April (doors open at 16.00 hrs).
