Hip hop artists Young Kidd recently released his mixtape "Wonderful Winnipeg. Presented in association with Coast 2 Coast Mixtape Promotions, CTL Records, Shadyville DJs, and mixed by DJ Dow Jones, the project is available at https://www.coast2coastmixtapes.com for free download. "Wonderful Winnipeg" features Young Kidd on tracks with Boogey the Beat, R.O.Z, Kobe, Noah Jones, Charlie Fetta, and Lotto.
Young Kidd was born and raised in the Central community of Winnipeg, Canada. He started writing rhymes in high school and began to create a buzz in the Winnipeg hip hop community with his regular performances at local clubs and nightspots. His first release, "I Go Hard" sold well and gained exposure through word of mouth and the Internet, and with "10 x 10," Young Kidd solidified his spot as a young and promising artist. "10 x 10" was voted Best Local CD by Winnipeg's Uptown Magazine, and was nominated for Best Hip Hop Album of the Year at the 2010 Aboriginal People's Choice
Music Awards. His lead single, "Hometown," was nominated for Single of the Year.
Young Kidd has also reached the number one spot on the Streetz FM Top 10 Countdown on three separate occasions and his YouTube videos have over a million combined views—and that number is steadily growing. An article in the December 31, 2010 issue of Maclean's Magazine described Young Kidd as "the city's first bona fide rap superstar."
DJ Dow Jones began his music career in 1995 with the hip-hop group Mood Ruff. With four albums, eight videos, and touring the country multiple times, he has gained the much-needed experience it takes to advance in the industry. In 2003, Dow Jones was ready for a change and went from behind the mic to behind the turntables. He started off with small local residencies, which quickly became the city's hot spots. Now he holds residencies in the city's most prominent nightclubs. Dow Jones' high demand has led him to open for major acts such as Slick Rick, Kanye West, Fabulous,
Redman & Method Man, Akon, Kardinal Offishall, and Flo Rida. Now moving from an opening act to a headline DJ, Dow Jones has played to sold out crowds in three countries and some of the industry's biggest parties.
