Bruno Pronsato

With his heady, intricately woven tracks and ominously funky live performances, Bruno Pronsato is one of technos most intriguing artists. His sound is full of contradictions: abstract but organic, sexy but drab, and though most of his records could easily stir a dance floor, they exist purely for themselves, never compromised for club potential. In music, as in life, Bruno likes to get weird, and the suspense that permeates his music often earns him the title of minimal. But its the deeply emotional momentsthe warm, amber tones of tracks like What We Wish, At Home Im a Tourist and The Make Up The Break Up that point to Brunos true objective: as he blurted out to an Italian journalist last year, I just want to make romantic techno.

In 2006, Bruno moved from Seattle to Berlin to do techno full time, and it wasnt long before he made a name for himself. His debut 12" was released in 2003 on Orac, a Kompakt distributed label, and was followed the next year by a full-length album, Silver Cities. Soon Bruno had the attention of labels like Philpot and Musique Risque, both of whom released Brunos next EPs. By 2005, Brunos live performancean unusually nimble and improvisatory actbegan receiving praise from XLR8R, The Wire, and dozens of underground European zines. It also piqued the interest of Ricardo Villalobos and Perlon boss Zip, who invited Bruno to play in their laptop super-group, Narod Nikki. Around this time, Bruno formed a duo with Sammy Dee called Half Hawaii. The pair played at nightclubs around Europe and international festivals like Mutek, and released two slick minimal records on Perlon and Hello? Repeat. But Brunos real breakthrough came in 2007 when he released Why Cant We Be Like Us, a strange and beautiful album that received a 5/5 from Resident Advisor and endless accolades throughout the blogosphere. This secured Brunos position as one of technos most imaginative and virtuosic artists, a reputation he easily maintained with his next two releases: the weird and sultry Whered You Learn to Kiss That Way on Hello? Repeat, and Take 1/ Take 2, a jazz-infected house jam he did with Daze Maxim, under the name Others.

In 2009, Bruno started his own label, thesongsays. It was partly a matter of necessity; he needed an imprint for his most ambitious work yet, a 38-minute epic called The Make Up The Break Up, so he decided to simply release it himself. Possibly his best work to date, The Make Up The Break Up received a deluge of praise upon its release, including another 5/5 from Resident Advisor. Later that year, thesongsays released its second record, a debut EP called What Ive Lost by Benoit & Sergio. Dripping with half-ironic romantic sentiment, What Ive Lost is a daringly unfashionable EP that, perhaps even more than his own tracks, reveals Bruno for who he truly is: a post-punk inspired techno artist that loves staying up all night, sipping whiskey with his pinky crooked.

Thomas Melchior

Born in Germany, Thomas Melchior raised in the USA, Spain and finally England. At school he also started his musical career as composer/singer and keyboardist before moving to London where he soon formed his first Jazzfunk five-piece band (Blipvert Bigtop). Releasing records on his own Label (Earworm) they performed in London warehouses, clubs and pubs.

After getting married and becoming a father, Thomas"s next project Ohm experimented with and fused electronic and funkadelic sounds with soul and jazz. Catching the attention of the likes of Africa Bambaata, Acid Jazz and Talking Loud"s Gilles Peterson. Ohm"s Heady Volt Experience EP had a strong influence on the later emerging trip hop scene (James Lavelle, Mo Wax often mentioning it as a blueprint).

But times were a changing and Melchior moved on to pioneer and explore other moods and grooves. With the arrival of a computer, he began to discover the world of reduced music making, leading him to work and hang out with weird beat master J. Saul Kane (Depth Charge, Bomb The Bass), introducing him to the early London acid house and warehouse underground. He hooked up with people like Peter "Baby" Ford, Mark Moore, Big Audio Dynamite, Carl Craig etc soon he was on his way to making tripped out electronica. In "92 Thomas hooked up with multi instrumentalist Tim Hutton and started recording as Vulva/Yoni. Quickly Vulva caught the attention of the Aphex Twin"s Richard James and his Rephlex label, who promptly released the now legendary From The Cockpit album. Vulva/YONI basked in the lights of success releasing records on San Fransisco"s Reflective and Germany"s Source Records as well as gigging alongside Armando, Aphex Twin, Black Dog (Plaid), Autechre, Global Communication, Orbital etc.

As the years went by Thomas" musical interests shifted towards producing more minimal deep- and tracky style house tunes and after touring the USA as member of Lady Miss Kiers" (Deelite) band, Thomas moved to New York in 1996 familiarizing himself with some of the American house and techno scene before returning to London in "97 to work with old friend Peter Ford. With the releases quickly mounting under various pseudonyms namely Deepah, Sunpeople, Soul Capsule (all Trelik), Ifach Collective, M-core (all Ifach) etc., Thomas established himself as a pioneer of minimal house.

His more personal London speed garage influenced deep hypnotic and sexy micro house cuts set a new manifesto on his label Aspect Music in 2000. His sound soon was reaching cult status, being supported by producers/DJs like Daniel Bell, Luke Solomon, Ricardo Villalobos, Akufen, Richie Hawtin etc. By now Melchior Productions was being released on the mighty Perlon and Playhouse labels in Germany. During the years Thomas also followed some of his other interests and studied to become an astrologer, masseur and sculptor. In 2003 Thomas moved from London to Berlin after having set up a second home in Brasil, where he now has a new family. Throughout Thomas"s career he has stayed dedicated to the underground, maintaining a low profile, allowing him to stay clear of trends and thus remaining, after more than twenty years of music production, at the cutting edge of music.

Public Lover

Public Lover is a deeper version of Ninca Leece and Bruno Pronsato. It's the inevitable result of two people making music for years. People who grew up on My Bloody Valentine, Roxy Music, and good-ol' techno and house. It's the sort of baby they have always wanted. It might be their golden child, or perhaps their golden squirrel?

While both have had extensive musical careers, this one is a new step -- sort of.

Ninca Leece released her debut album, There Is No One Else When I Lay Down And Dream, in January 2010 on Bureau B, a popular sub-label of Tapete Records. Her atmospheric and experimental productions and her watery and unique vocals have caught the attention of many critics in Europe. She has been performing for six years throughout Europe and Asia with an array of toys, visuals, computers, and her trusted Nord g4.

Bruno Pronsato has released two full-length albums, 16-plus EPs, and countless remixes. His productions have been listed in Resident Advisor's top 100 albums of the decade. He has worked with acclaimed producers such as Thomas Melchior, Sammy Dee, Fumiya Tanaka, and Daze Maxim. Seasoned as a live performer as well, he has traveled around the world sharing his version of experimentalism and dance floor romanticism.

Armed with sonic satin, they look forward to shocking you with their brilliance, charm, and utter deepness.

Let's hold hands.

dOP

These three arguments are the best words to describe the new band project dOP which was created by Clement Aichelbaum, Damien Vandesande and Jonathan Illel. All three were born in 1980 and know each other for over 20 years now. The first music project they did together was a rock n roll cover band for the France MusicDay in 1994. Afterwards the guys had many experiences in different music styles like hip-hop, jazz and reggae, and also started different band projects.

Five years ago they discovered Electronic Music and started immediately composing it in their own style. From this point dOP was born and the first high rated releases and remixes on the labels MilnorModern, Circus Company, Eklo, Orac and Einmaleins followed in 2007 and 2008. Another important and famous person for their development in this business was Nicolas Sfintescu from Nze, because they share the same idea of making organic dance music in the classical way of composing with real instruments and voice. Not only thinking about music, also dividing the studio and sharing instruments is the best way to delineate their relationship between each other.

A special preference of the three guys is their love for collecting instruments such as flutes, horns, percussions, glockenspiele, saxophones and many more. Mostly they're together in the studio and work in a very collective way. This is also a very big tick for the amenity between them, because most of the time they do all things together. Illness is also no reason for not staying together!

This is also why their tracks are always as different as their feelings and frame of mind. The same applies to singer Jonathan Illel with his lyrics. For the French band it's essential and traditional to speak about experiences, moments, past or future " dOP always is trying to give a message! Also a further passion by the three boys is to work in cooperations with friends like Nze, Aquarius Heaven, Catz n Dogz, Sety, Dave Aju, Khan, Guy Gerber, DJ Koze, Wareika, Guillaume & the Cotu Dumonts, Tiefschwarz, Mathias Kaden, or in projects like Enliven dOP Acoustics (Enliven Deep Acoustics) from North Thuringia, Germany, or as Armaberokay with friends from Kassel, Germany.

In 2009 they released new Eps and Tracks on Circus Company, Eklo, Supplement Fact, Mothership, Children of tomorrow and Safari. Also they did remixes for Get Physical, Rebirth, Souvenir, Peppermint Jam, i m single, Lessizmore, Electrochoc, Synchrophone, Brownswood and more. A year later in June 2010 they released their first Compilation on Watergate Records for the famous club Watergate Berlin. In October appeared their eagerly awaited first album on Circus Company called GREATEST HITS.

They are constantly touring the globe, so don't miss them on stage and enjoy their show to get your own view if their music is dOP!
