CD Release Concert is Confirmed for October 16th at The Metropolitan Room in NYC ***
Early raves have preceded singer/actress Anastasia Barzee's sophisticated, sweeping debut CD, 'The Dimming of the Day.' The 9/27 release on Ghostlight Records reimagines an eclectic range of Broadway, pop and jazz-infused songs, as Barzee showcases a diverse array of her favorite contemporary artists including Paul Simon, Rufus Wainwright, Randy Newman, Kate Bush, Andrew Lloyd Webber and many more. In a rave, syndicated review via tastemaker outlet BlogCritics, writer Jack Goodstein suggests Barzee is "channeling John Keats' "Ode on Melancholy," and says the album is filled with "songs that speak to the intensity of melancholy and the depth of joy that must inevitably come." In his enthusiastic NEXT Magazine review, David Hurst says the album is filled with "unexpected delights," and adds, "The Dimming of the Day is impossible to categorize, but who would want to? Just enjoy!" More coverage follows, below.

Barzee will give fans a chance to hear the music live, as she performs a CD release concert at The Metropolitan Room in NYC, 7pm on October 16th. The event will include numerous special guest appearances, including the legendary Gil Goldstein, who arranged and performs on 'The Dimming of the Day'. See full band line-up, above.
