Bruno Mars Tops Global Digital Download Charts With The Two Best-selling Singles Of 2011; Singer Scores 4th No 1 On The Billboard CHR/Top 40 Chart With "It Will Rain"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Elektra recording artist Bruno Mars has added yet another accolade to his growing list of achievements by topping this year's global IFPI chart for the best-selling digital singles of 2011. The singer/songwriter/producer takes spots No. 1 and No. 2 with consecutive singles from his 25x worldwide platinum debut album "DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS;" "Just the Way You Are" lands at No. 1 with 12.5 million copies sold and "Grenade" at No. 2 with 10.2 million. Additionally Mars' third consecutive single "The Lazy Song" lands at No. 10 on the chart with 6.5 million copies sold, making him the first artist to have three tracks amongst the top 10 digital singles in one year. Bruno's singles took No. 1, 2 and 10 on this year's annual chart (which was released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry earlier this week) and other pop heavyweights were ranked as follows: LMFAO at No. 3, Jennifer Lopez at No. 4, Adele, Lady Gaga and Pitbull all ranked at No. 5, Black Eyed Peas at No. 8 and Maroon 5 at No. 9.

Additionally, Mars is celebrating his fourth No. 1 on the Billboard CHR/Top 40 Chart with his smash single "It Will Rain" from Summit Entertainment/Chop Shop/Atlantic's recently released "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 1 - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK." Mars first topped this chart in 2010 as a producer and featured artist on B.o.B's "Nothin' On You feat. Bruno Mars." Later that year, he spent three weeks at No. 1 with "Just The Way You Are," and his second consecutive single "Grenade" spent another five weeks atop the chart in early 2011.

In other recent news, Mars has scored a stunning six nominations for the upcoming 54th Annual Grammy Awards and will be featured as one of the evening's highly anticipated performers. The annual extravaganza will be held on Sunday, February 12th, 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8-11:30 pm (ET/PT).

The six nominations place Mars among the year's most-nominated artists, a testament to his diverse talents as performer, songwriter, and producer. His 25x-worldwide platinum debut album, "DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS," was nominated as "Album of the Year" and "Best Pop Vocal Album," while the #1 smash hit, "Grenade," was named in both the "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year" categories, as well as for "Best Pop Solo Performance." What's more, The Smeezingtons - that is, the production team of Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine -- are among the "Producer of the Year, Non-Classical" nominees, celebrating, among other recordings, "DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS," along with Mars' featured role on Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters (Feat. Bruno Mars)" and Lil Wayne's "Mirror (Feat. Bruno Mars)." This marks the second consecutive year that the trio has been nominated in this category.
