Canadian Music Week With Matt Track On March 21, 2012
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Matt Track Official Website) Quebec's folk/roots sensation Matt Track is setting his sights on Ontario, more specifically on Canadian Music Week, playing an opening night showcase as part of Canadian Music Fest (CMF) on Wednesday, March 21 at the Free Times Café (320 College St., Toronto).

An avid guitarist from the age of nine, Matt Track learned from The Beatles, played in punk bands throughout high school, took up singing in his mid-teens and at last ended up discovering that his musical path of choice actually lay in the folk/roots genre.

Having released a number of albums, played the Vans Warped Tour, opened up for David Usher and even conquered Portugal in a mini six-date tour, Matt Track has come a long way since releasing his first three-song demo, aptly titled 'Appetizer,' back in 2006.

His latest project - four seasons; four EPs - was born from the search to create something original and primal, without the extravagant use of effects and technology that is readily found in today's music industry.

The result carries listeners through and interesting mélange of grooves and melodies that all sync with one another while telling a number of stories, sharing in their simplicity and the predominance of Matt's beloved acoustic guitar.

Adding an extra layer of originality to it all, each EP was recorded outdoors in a search to showcase the natural sounds of each season on each corresponding EP.

On March 21, Matt Track will take the stage as part of Canadian Music Fest's opening night celebrations to showcase the unique talent and creativity that have made him a household name, uniting CMF's international crowd with his universal music.

About: Matt is an acoustic guitar lover. Furthermore, the construction of each of his song actually begins with a thick and strong layer of it. He likes to put enough details in it so that the songs can be just as interesting to hear solo as they will be full band.

Having played in rock bands while he was a teenager, it's by discovering artists such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews and Ben Harper that the interest for the acoustic has grown for him. After a few years giving acoustic live performances of songs from these artists, he started writing his own music, creating an interesting blend from these influences.

It is from an association with solid musicians such as the drummer Francis Gaulin (Alain-Francois, Dir. Musicale Gala des Oliviers 2009…) and bassist Jeremi Roy (Marco Calliari, Gitans de Sarajevo, Frootfly…) that the songs took their full band flavour.

After the the three songs demo "Appetizer" in 2006, Matt is invited to play the opening act for Nicolas Sarcevic (millencolin) at the Lambi in Montreal. Having enjoyed the performance, the independant label Freedumb Records produced the album "Main Dish", which came out in stores in april 2008 with Distribution Select.

A bit more than 50 performances followed the album, namely; 2 venues of the Vans Warped Tour, a small 6 dates tour in Portugal, Le Festival du Cochon de Ste-Perpetue, Musique en Vue in Cowansville and an opening act for David Usher permitted the band to develop the right fusion and experience with the songs to build a solid set.

It's with this bagage that the band is now entering a project of 4 E.P's (1 per season). They're aiming for a natural and human sound for a "kebab" of songs that will carry the listener through a variety of interesting grooves and melodies 'in sync' with the season they will represent.
