New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) World Party's 'Arkeology' - 5-CDs worth of new songs, rare studio gems, live sessions, concert recordings, radio interviews, covers, demos and B-sides—is out now on Seaview Records. MSN Music talks to Karl Wallinger about highlights from his 25 year career, recovering from a life-threatening brain aneurysm in 2001, and why now is the time to break a dozen years of studio silence with this massive new release.
"I'm looking forward to playing live," Wallinger says. "That's what I really want to do - get on the road for a year, just take off. We've got 70 songs to play now. I want to get out there and do some gigs."
Praising Wallinger's "smart, sometimes stinging pop songs," MSN calls him "a sharp-eyed commentator on humans' best intentions and worst tendencies," in songs with "strong melodies and vocal arrangements that can be anguished or joyous" and premieres two never before heard recordings: a live version of the World Party classic, "Way Down Now" from London in 1991 and an unreleased demo "Change the World."
