New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Tania & The Revolutionaries Official Website) Lani Ford started the group Tania & The Revolutionaries in 2011 and so far the band has traveled to Nicaragua twice and now returns to Tennessee for the Nashville Songwriters Festival June 1-3, 2012.
Lani Ford started Tania after recording demos that became a limited release CD called The Final Blow in 2011. After the release a year ago, the band started playing around NYC and traveled to Virginia and Nashville in June 2011. The "renegade acoustic" band started with 6-7 members and is now at a comfortable 3, including Ford on vocals, guitar and sometimes mandolin,
Laura Sativa on flute and percussion and Tony Mann on percussion and drums.
While in Nashville, The Revs will play all three days of the festival, starting Friday June 1st at The Best Western on
Music Row. Saturday afternoon June 2nd, they'll play Red
Rooster and Sunday the 3rd, they'll appear on the patio at Dan McGuinness. The band will also be in the studio and you can catch 2/3 of the group (Laura and Lani) playing at
Douglas Corner and Bobby's Idle Hour where they'll be joined by Sara Bolton on backing vocals on their new most popular song "Cold Dead Cupid".
In keeping with the Patty Hearst idea behind the band, Lani has been posting "communiqué" style blogs and videos while on the road. Her article on the last trip to Nicaragua was featured in the
Spring 2012 New York Waste.
Tania & The Revolutionaries have also been writing new songs and Lani has been recording demos with Steve Goodie in Nashville and the band just started recording new material with Freddie Katz in New York City. They plan to release an EP of new "goth Americana" songs by the fall of 2012.
