Babs
Martin redefines the idea of original music by offering an original style. Their Smoky Vox and Clawhammer Rock beats from the American heartland and leads the listener to the core of their music. Babs' vocals are strong and distinct like Nico, Jim Morrison, Lou Reed, and
Grace Slick. JA Martin, guitarist for Babs, plays a modified electric guitar in a traditional clawhammer banjo style from the Appalachian Mountains. He makes the bass notes warmly growl and the treble notes pleasantly chime. JA keeps the bass beat on a custom built electrified stomp box with a license plate cover like the old Blues players. It's real music for real people who want to get back to their feel good music roots. Their driving beats and syncopated rhythms rock the dance floor and Babs' words, vocals, and performance are hypnotic. Babs and JA say, "Our music isn't for everyone, but it might be for you."
They are the Bonnie and Clyde of music. Babs
Martin is breaking rules of styles and crossing genres. They play venues from Rock to Punk to Indie/Alternative to Country.
