New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) World Party's Karl Wallinger will bring a stripped-down set of songs from his 25-year career to New York's City Winery on Monday,
September 17th. Following the wildly successful release of the five CD collection, 'Arkeology' - "a goldmine of pop gems for fans old and new" (NPR) - which immediately sold out and is currently in its third and largest printing to date, this will be Wallinger's first New York City show in six years, one in a run of six rare live dates that include Chicago, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Albany.
Called "a first-rate songwriter" who delivers "clever, bright, pop-oriented rock, crafted with loving care" by the Wall Street Journal, Wallinger suffered an aneurism in 2001 that left him unable to speak or walk and in rehab for 5 years. NPR's Weekend All Things Considered talked to Karl about his recovery, this past spring: https://n.pr/Ie1dKD
Formed in 1986, as Wallinger's solo project, (previously of cult heroes The Waterboys), World Party has amassed a collection of hit singles over its history, including "Ship of Fools", "Put the Message in the Box," "Is It Like Today?" and the chart-topping "Way Down Now," while contributing to movie soundtracks for Reality Bites and Clueless. In recent years, Wallinger has taken World Party to the stages of Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, and San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.
