NASHVILLE, TN. (Universal Records) - Ripping a page from the Pete Townsend playbook, Texas songwriter/entertainer Pat Green did a first: smashing his acoustic guitar and throwing the pieces to the crowd at the close of his set. Having made one trip down the extended runway into the capacity crowd at the Country Thunder Festival in Twin Lakes, Iowa, the triple Grammy-nominee had almost wound up his Top 5 "Wave On Wave," when during the musical build into the final chorus, he unhooked his strap and started swinging. "I knew from the second song I was gonna do it," said the common man songscraper. "I just felt something come over me... and it was weird. You get on those stages with all those people, and you're doing your show, singing your songs - and you've got all this energy. "And the best part was: I knew and nobody else did." With the crowd waving back and forth with their hands in the air, it was a moment of big connection for the man whose sold out the Houston Astrodome twice - and can do outdoor amphitheater business in his home state of Texas. And the gospel of Green - buoyed in part by the success of his golden Wave On Wave - is now rolling across the Midwest on its way to national domination. Look for Lucky Ones, Green's follow-up to his breakthrough Wave, to drop in October. And look for Pat Green, perhaps the hardest working guy in Everyman country, everywhere you look this summer!
