
SANTA MONICA, CA. (The Recording Academy) - The
National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences today announced that it has named Wayne J. Zahner as its Chief Financial Officer. Zahner, who previously held the title of Controller/Director of Business Affairs at the Academy, will report directly to Neil Portnow, President of the Recording Academy.
"Wayne has been an integral part of our executive team for the past three years," said Neil Portnow, President of the Recording Academy. "I am pleased to promote Wayne to this crucial post, where he will manage not only day-to-day financial affairs, but also the long range planning of an efficient and effective financial strategy for this organization."
Zahner has been with the Recording Academy since October of 2001. He joined the organization as Controller and was promoted to Controller/Director of Business of Affairs in December 2002.
With 13 years of experience in the field, Zahner also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the Joseph A. Sellinger, S.J., School of Business and Management at Loyola College in Baltimore, Md. and is a certified public accountant. He has held key financial positions with a number of companies, including: Jefferson Wells International, KB Home, Ryland Homes, and United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company.
Within these organizations, Zahner's experience has had special emphasis on cost accounting, fraud prevention, budgeting, forecasting, development of internal control processes, reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as writing and researching accounting treatments to be used in developing various corporate strategic plans.
Zahner was selected after the Recording Academy engaged in an extensive executive search.
