DETROIT (Music Hall) - WSU students, in partnership with Music Hall, are seeking financial support from local businesses and festival goers. Students Scott Kefgen and Bill Porter, known as the WSU Jazz All-Stars, were selected by Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) faculty advisor, Shelly Najor, Ph.D. to work with Music Hall. Hermanoff & Associates, a Farmington Hills full-service public relations firm, conceived and is assisting with the project.
"The department is proud to have these students representing Wayne State and PRSSA. They have done an excellent job and I'm sure they will be a great success. We're delighted to be collaborating with Hermanoff & Associates, who is guiding our students through this process," said Najor.

Kefgen is a senior working toward a B.A. in public relations. He previously had internships with Palace Sports and Entertainment, Walt Disney World and Marx Layne & Co. Porter is also a senior and working toward his B.A. in public relations. He started his career in advertising 5 years ago at N.W. Ayer & Partners, working his way up from the mailroom. He is currently a media planner at General Motors Planworks in Detroit.
"We are very excited that, for the first time ever, these students have made this a community effort," said Sandy Duncan, Music Hall president. "These students are the future of Detroit."

In addition to seeking sponsorship opportunities prior to the festival, the WSU Jazz All-Stars will be appearing at the 25th Ford International Jazzfest to collect donations from attendees. Their work will help keep the largest free jazz festival going strong for years to come.
